What lets electricity through?
Turn the first circuit into a tester and try metal, graphite, water, wood, foil and anything else we want to try.
Before we start
Some materials let electrons move through them easily and others get in the way. What do the materials that work have in common?
The goal
Find out which materials conduct by predicting first, then testing.
How we'll do it
- 01Build a working light circuit, then leave one small gap in the path.
- 02Choose a material and predict whether it will close the gap.
- 03Clip it into the circuit, observe the light, and record what happened.
- 04Sort the results and look for a pattern we can explain.
